Be realistic

Be upfront to the leasing company about what you can afford in terms of a fixed monthly rental and what type of vehicle is going to best suit your purposes.

Check for additional costs

Before you agree to anything, make sure that you have read the small print. Be sure you know such things as how much you would have to pay if you exceeded the agreed total mileage.

Exceed your mileage

Your contract hire fixed monthly rental is for an agreed period and mileage limit. If you go over this limit you will pay a penalty, so you should keep on top of how many miles you are clocking up.

Change your vehicle part way through your contract

It is possible to do this, but most companies will charge you extra for doing so.

Mistreat your vehicle

At the end of the contract hire period you can simply return the vehicle to the leasing company, but if there is damage to the car over and above reasonable wear and tear, then you will have to pay an additional charge.
